The plan was to get up early and head into town to buy the motor belts and change them. Well, we got up early but that was as far as we got. Our Verizon phone and internet monthly service finished today. Jorge used Stefano's phone to extend the service for another month as it looks like we will be in Florida for at least another week (maybe more) but he had to wait until 1000 for the office to open. When that was completed, Jorge came back to our boat in time to help reanchor a boat that was dragging. He then called around to a couple of Westerbeke dealers to find out who had the parts. By that time it was already 1300! So much for an early start. We got to the dinghy dock, had a quick bite to eat and then proceeded on our way, first stopping at a bank to get some cash as part of reprovisioning for the Bahamas.
Jorge and I parted ways at this point, him going in the direction of the belts and me, as usual to the grocery store. However I think I am finishing my reprovisioning, I'm just buying groceries as I don't want to deplete the "stash".
Leaving the Raw Bar (dinghy dock) and heading down the channel towards the ICW.
Crossing the ICW to get to our anchorage. Just past this bridge is where the cruise boats dock.
It was a warm day with lots of sunshine, high 20s. The solar panels were just a humming, making us power!
We got back to the boat around 1630. Jorge installed the belts and things appeared fine. We had a light supper and just took it easy during the evening.
Who da thunk you would need to hunt & gather so much. We've got some nasty weather sending you northerlies so the Gulfstream will be a big barrier to the Bahamas.Hurry up & wait.Happy New Year Sue & Gord
